It nearly five years now since I first interviewed Royal Marine turned businessman Tommy Kelly for The Scotsman. The former Stewart Melville and Napier University student had just started a company called J working in partnership with his friend and fellow Marine Steve Howarth an experience he described as the plane while you flying it. Their plan, cooked up while out on manoeuvres together in Arctic Norway in 2005, was to launch a range of high end outdoors gear that would function more effectively than the MOD issued kit they were wearing at the time, and which would appeal to people who like them took their climbing and ski mountaineering seriously..
I watched the meeting and painfully listened to board members give their opinions, drone incessantly instead of asking questions. Very simple five word questions like the tree be saved? were avoided for long stories or lectures from two members. Much of this work appeared in New York magazine (where I served as the journal’s dance critic for 22 years) and in Dance magazine (where I also edited the criticism for nearly a decade).
Alright, enough. The shock value is officially gone. Nothing? OK, how about SEXY NUNS? Still nothing? Good. Yellowstone WildlifeYellowstone National Park is home for many bison, elk, moose, mule deer, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, wolves, coyotes, black bears, grizzly bears, and a wide range of other wildlife. Bison were in rut when I traveled there in August. This meant that they were gathering in larger groups; particularly in the Hayden and Lamar Valleys.
Good morning, Friday daydreamers! It is finally here, but you do have the rest of this day to get through before heading out on the water for some R So stick to it, get caught up with the business news here, and then go do whatever floats your boat. Millennials are waking up to the grim financial future left to them by Baby Boomers and they angry. That future is likely one in which the few are rich and living longer while the many struggle to get by and are dying younger.
